We will continue working with Pre-Algebra concepts. We will be working with negative numbers. Your child will learn how to place negative numbers on a number line, how to order them, and how to compare them.
We will also be working with coordinate grids. Your child will have fun creating messages using a coordinate grid.
Most students are doing very well with this and I hope that they will retain this information for the next Benchmark test which will be in December.
Please make sure that your child is practicing the multiplication facts every day. A set of flashcards were given out at Back to School Night. (Green and Purple cards) Please have your child practice them daily. Multiplication and Division are related, so if your child doesn't know the times tables, he/she will not be able to do division.
Principal's Club: Every Thursday, our students participate in the principal's club which is a timed test on either addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Your child tries to complete a set of problems within a given time limit. I'm very happy to see that more and more students are passing! They will receive a certificate and a prize for every level that they pass. The goal is for them to pass all levels so that they can participate in the Big Prize at the end of the year!
